"Very well handled oak maturation has mellowed this out, creating a complex, polished and savoury wine. The red cherries of Sangiovese are there with darker blackberry fruits, but it opens up to earthy mushrooms, venison, herbs, walnut and new leather flavours. It's medium-bodied, but I'm surprised when I look at the label to find it's 15% alcohol. It carries it very well, however, with a long finish dominated by savouriness." - Decanter
"Red cherries on this wine, and wet leather. Tighter, more sinewy and more herbal than the Mastio. Savoury, roasted mushrooms and beef notes. Lovely earthy, dry tannins. I’d love a ragu with this. The 15% alcohol is remarkably balanced!" - Jancis Robinson
